Transition Year

Transition Year

All students attend Transition Year in St Joseph of Cluny. The purpose of the year is to help students make the transition from a highly structured and exam-orientated environment to one where they will take greater responsibility for their own learning and decision-making. The overall aims of the course are:

  • Education for maturity, with an emphasis on social awareness and increased social competence.
  • Education through experience of adult and working life as a basis for personal development and maturity.
  • Promotion of general, technical and academic skills with an emphasis on inter-disciplinary and self-directed learning

Transition Year students learn through activity-based learning, group work, project work and educational trips. To see more information about our current TY cohort, please see the following document: TY Booklet 2021 2022.

In Transition Year, all students also take part in our annual school musical. In 2022, students performed Grease. To watch a video from behind the scenes of our school's production of this, please visit: Behind the Scenes - Grease 2022.
