The Cluny House System
The House System is an integral part of the school spirit found in St. Joseph of Cluny.
The system sort of works like Harry Potter (except we don't have a sorting hat!), when new teachers and students come join Cluny they are placed in a House. The names of the Houses are particularly special. They are named after the Mission countries of the Cluny Order: Ghana, Gambia, Fiji, Tahiti, Sierra Leone, and St. Lucia.
Through the year the Houses compete with each other in an attempt to earn the most House Points and win the coveted House shield at the end of the year. Each house has a mix of students from first to sixth year so it's a fantastic way for students to make new friends and it encourages sports participation through friendly rivalry. In fifth year students have the opportunity to develop their leadership skills by running for House Captain and Vice Captain.
The successful candidates then become mascots of Cluny spirit and organise and participate in various activities throughout the year. In the past House Captains have helped out at the Cluny Library Mock Election, 5K fun runs, Sports Day, Talent Shows, Halloween Fashion shows, Teacher-Student debates and lots more.
