St. Joseph of Cluny Celebrates World Book Day 2020

group photo.pngOn Thursday the 5th of March, students and staff at St Joseph of Cluny joined thousands of people here in Ireland and abroad in celebrating World Book Day. As always, the Cluny TY Library Committee was instrumental in making the day a success. In the days leading up to the event, members helped Jean to decorate the Library to showcase not only the importance but also the fun and enjoyment that can be gained by reading books. Donning costumes to depict some of their favourite characters from books they have read, the Library Committee kicked off the day by visiting all Year Assemblies to distribute World Book Day book tokens to every student in the school.

In the afternoon, a school-wide “Drop Everything and Read” event took place. At 2:10, with the sound of the school bell, staff and students dropped everything they were doing in their lessons, and engaged in quiet reading for pleasure for 15 minutes. Jean would like to thank all those students who borrowed library books on the day as well as everyone at Cluny who participated and made the day such a success!
