Friday 30 September 2022

We hope you are all looking forward to another edition of our Good News Friday!

TY students had a very busy and eventful week as they enjoyed their trip to Achill. Students took part in outdoor pursuits and activities including surfing. They thoroughly enjoyed their time in Achill. Thank you to all who made this trip possible.

Congratulations to the Senior A Under 19's and Under 16's A basketball teams as they were run away winners with both opening league matches against Rathdown Under 19's (32-44) and Under 16's (16-37). Well played everyone!

Congratulations to our sixth-year music student Ellen Donnelly on the release of her single ‘Everything Pales’. If you would like to listen to Ellen’s song, please visit the following YouTube link: https://buff.ly/3LPuMIB

Well done to our first-year students who played in their very first hockey matches this week against the Teresians. They also played St. Andrews in recent days.

Blue visited us this week as part of ABC Wellbeing Wednesday. Thank you to Ms. Marren for bringing Blue to see us!

Last week, our TY French students started a new creative activity to help their oral French skills. "Sounds like French - noise, sounds and poetry" is a series of workshops led by writer Juliette Saumande and is part of our BLAST cultural programme, allowing students to work closely with established artists to develop vital creative and critical thinking skills. The first session proved a great success, with tongue twisters and rhymes. Over the coming weeks, students will begin to create their own poems in French.

One of our coaches, Emma Meir, wrote a fantastic article that has been featured in the Irish Times. This inspiring article can be read at the following page: https://buff.ly/3fAEtyA

Lots of books have been borrowed and returned from the library this week. More than 35 books were borrowed this week alone! Happy reading to all. A new reading initiative will also be launched in the library in the coming days. For every five books borrowed, a leaf will be added to the new Cluny Reading Tree on Ms. Curtin's desk.

We hope you have a nice weekend. And remember, in Cluny we dream of the days to come.
