This week we celebrated Catholic Schools Weeks and held multiple performances of our TY school musical The School of Rock. We were delighted to welcome so many people to Cluny to celebrate these events with us.
To mark the beginning of Catholic Schools Week 2023, we welcomed Sr. Maeve, former principal of Cluny. Sr. Maeve spoke at a whole school assembly to students about the important work of the Cluny Sisters, inspired by the life and work of Blessed Anne-Marie Javouhey.
On Wednesday, we held grandparents and person of commitment day at Cluny Library. Students were asked to invite someone important to them, a person of commitment or a grandparent to join us for some refreshments and a chance to get to know one another. This was a fantastic event. Thank you to all who attended and many thanks to our Chapliancy Team for their hard work in organising it.
Starting on Tuesday night and finishing tonight, our TY students, as well as students from Blackrock College, were busy rehearsing and putting on performances of our school musical The School of Rock. This was a massive success which was met with overwhelming positivity. Students received standing ovations after their performances and some members of the crowd even got up to dance along during the encores! To see photos and clips from the performances, be sure to visit our social media accounts. Well done to all of our students, Ms. Masterson and Ms. O’Dwyer for putting together this unforgettable show.
We were delighted to welcome our 60+ incoming first year students to Cluny this week for an information evening. We look forward to welcoming you as our new first years in the new term.
TY students who are taking part in Junk Kouture had their photos taken this week of their costumes. Well done to each of you for all of your creativity and hard work.
Congratulations to our Under 19 A badminton team who came in second place this week in the Leinster Finals. Well done as well to our Under 19 B badminton team who came in first place in Dublin. We are proud of you all.
House Captains and Vice Captains are recruiting students and staff for their reading teams in the return of the House Reading Challenge. Teams are tasked with reading the most number of pages from the 9th of January until the 17th of March. Whichever team reads the most pages will win a prize! If you are interested in taking part, let your House Captain or Vice-Captain know or you can email your House and name to library@clunykilliney.ie and Ms. Curtin will add you to the team.
In conjunction with the sixth-year coffee morning event in March, we will be holding a book drive to raise funds for St. Joseph's of Shankhill. For this, we are looking for donations from staff and students. If you have any second hand books that you would like to donate, you can drop them into the oratory where there are donation boxes set up. Thank you to all who have donated so far.
That is it for this week! Students will be starting their mock exams here next week and we would like to wish them all the very best of luck. And remember, here at Cluny, we dream of the days to come.
