Friday 16 December 2022

This week we celebrated our annual Christmas Carol Service. This was the first time we have been able to celebrate in person in three years. We were delighted to welcome you all to Cluny for this festive occasion. Congratulations and well done to our students who performed fantastically at the event last night. A big thank you to Ms. Masterson and members of the religion department for helping make this event the success that it was.

The TY Christmas Cheer committee commenced their events to bring Christmas Cheer to Cluny. They are running events for each year group as well as whole school initiatives. There will be lots of surprises, treats and fun over the next week. Fifth years had a surprise hot chocolate and treats class organised by Christmas Cheer Committee this week. Second and third year students enjoyed a movie as well as part of Christmas Cheer.

TYs had an inspiring talk and kick boxing workshop from past pupil Aoife Byrne who is a personal trainer and stunt performer. Thank you to Aoife for visiting us and for running this fantastic event.

The library has released a Christmas Reading Guide today. This guide includes book recommendations based on library recommendations, what is popular in the library, BookTok and books that have recently been adapted to film and TV. This reading guide is available here on the website.

Well done to the Senior Concern Debates team, Alice, Lucy, Mimi in fifth year and Lauren in TY who represented Cluny today in the third Round of the Leinster Schools Debates against Blackrock College. They opposed the motion '“HIV/AIDS in the Global South is the forgotten pandemic".

Today was the deadline for donations to the Saint Vincent de Paul Christmas hampers. Members of the VDP team will be on site tomorrow to create the final hampers. Well done to our Ember Team for their hard work in organising and collecting for this initiative.

Next week, students have the opportunity to participate in our annual talent show. Auditions will take place on Monday.

Green Schools will be running a Christmas Upcycling Workshop at the TY Christmas Fair next week. Students are reminded to donate materials for this to the donation box at the student entrance. Gentle reminder, students will need to bring the item of clothing they would like to upstyle with them to school on Monday for this workshop.

We hope you all have a lovely weekend. And remember, at Cluny, we celebrate the days to come.
