Welcome back to all our staff and students! We hope you all enjoyed your Halloween break and are ready for the coming term here at Cluny.
This week we highlighted Stand-Up Awareness Week at Cluny. This is a national week of importance which raises awareness for young people in the LGBTQIA+ community and takes a stand against homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying. On Monday, our Head Girl and Deputy Head Girl raised out LGBTQIA+ flag outside of the school to launch the week. On Tuesday, all students participated in our flag day, wearing colours of the rainbow to recreate the flag outside at lunchtime. Students also completed a survey as part of our school’s LGBT Quality Mark program. Throughout the week there were even more themed events including watching Heartstopper! A big thank you to all involved in organising this week.
We were delighted to hold our Ceremony of Achievement yesterday where we celebrated the academic excellence for students from the Class of 2023 who achieved over 600 points alongside our Junior Certificate subject awards. To view the full list of award recipients, please see our full event post here: Ceremony of Achievement.
Fifth- and Sixth-year Art classes had a fantastic time at the Three Times Out Andy Warhol exhibition on Wednesday with Ms. O'Keeffe. A wonderful exhibition enjoyed by all!
Many thanks to the National Tertiary office for giving a talk to our TY and fifth year students earlier this week.
Well done to our Under-16s basketball team who had a successful win against Mt. Anville earlier this week! Final score 31-33.
Our House Teams are well underway in preparation for the final rounds of their volleyball tournament. Best of luck to all involved!
Well done to all involved in the collection and creation of the Team Hope shoebox appeal. A fantastic number of boxes were donated to this important cause.
A spiritual space for In November, We Remember has been created in our school foyer for our school community. There is a remembrance box where names of the deceased can be remembered as well as candles which can be taken to be burned at home in their memory. Thank you to the Chaplaincy Team for creating this space for us.
That is all for this week! We hope you all have a lovely weekend. And remember, at Cluny we grow and succeed together!
