Welcome back to another edition of Good News Friday covering stories from the last two weeks here at Cluny.
We celebrated our school opening mass yesterday. Thank you to all of our students and choir who took part during this ceremony. We wish all the very best in the coming academic term.
We were delighted to welcome pupils and guests from the Class of 2023 back to Cluny yesterday to celebrate their subject awards. Teachers nominated students from the class of 2023 to receive an award from their subject areas. Three of our students, who scored 7 H1s in their Leaving Certificate examinations, received crystal prizes as well as part of the ceremony. Well done to all! We were delighted to welcome so many of you back to Cluny.
Our senior prefects and sports prefect, deputy head girl and head girl each received their badges as part of the days ceremony also. Congratulations to our senior students!
All students received a copy of the school annual 2022-2023 which showcased the past academic term. We hope you all enjoy revisiting and reading all the lovely articles!
Our third year Art class enjoyed a trip to see the Sculpture in Context exhibition in the Botanic Gardens. There was so much to see and inspire them for their upcoming exam project. Students got to take lots of photos and draw the fabulous sculptures as well.
Students in first year held a bake sale to fundraise for the Morocco earthquake appeal. Well done to all involved and all who baked for this important fundraiser.
Third years enjoyed their retreat in Dublin City Centre last Thursday where they took part in a city walk. A pilgrim path, they visited four churches north and south of the Liffey. Great day had by all!
We were delighted to run an introduction to academic research workshop with sixth year history students on Monday morning ran by our School Librarian. Student's learned how to select and challenge sources for their projects and how to navigate academic texts.
The latest addition to the Cluny Polytunnel are these tomato plants kindly gifted to us by a parent! Thank you Annemarie!
A massive thank you to one of the parents of our current students who donated a lovely selection of art books for our students. So many wonderful titles for them to learn and get inspired from!
Sixth year students are enjoying a day out to see Hamlet today as part of their Leaving certificate English. We hope they enjoy the day!
Next week, we will have a special themed week in the library on the topic of Cloud Forests. Students are also reminded that the library Inktober competition will be continuing over the next few weeks. Keep an eye out for the week’s theme!
That is all for this week! We hope you all have a lovely weekend. And remember, in Cluny we celebrate the days to come.
