Friday 23 September 2022

Welcome to our newest edition of Good News Friday! We would like to say a massive thank you to all parents, guardians and primary school students who visited us yesterday during our open night. We hope you all had an enjoyable tour and experience. Well done to all involved in organising this wonderful event.

First year students enjoyed a trip to the DLR Lexicon library in Dún Laoghaire on Monday morning. They went on a tour and learned about the services offered by the library including how to borrow and return books, study facilities and navigating the library space. Afterwards, students were brought to Teddys for ice cream before returning to school.

Congratulations to our first year students who played their very first hockey game this week against Teresians. Go, Cluny, go!

It was healthy eating week in Cluny. Students were encouraged to make and select healthier foods this week for their lunches. On Thursday, students enjoyed freshly made smoothies and a selection of fresh fruit at lunchtime.

Congratulations to our newly elected House Captains and Vice Captains! Well done to all who entered and made their election speeches last Friday. Our House Captains and Vice Captains for the coming year are: Fiji; Mimi Birchall (Captain) and Sarah Grumley (Vice Captain), Gambia; Evie Dowling (Captain) and Shauna Brocklesby (Vice Captain), Ghana; Jessica Cullinan (Captain) and Neila Rek (Vice Captain), St.Lucia; Anna Watson (Captain) and Sophie Glynn (Vice Captain), Sierra Leone; Lucy Turley (Captain) and Paula Wassondela (Vice Captain), Tahiti; Alanna Hurley (Captain) and Isabelle White (Vice Captain).

All fifth and sixth year students attended Higher Options 2022 on Wednesday. A great opportunity for students to research third level options. Our next event will be our own Cluny Careers Evening on Thursday 10th November!

TY and fifth year students also enjoyed a trip to the ploughing match this week. Fifth year students also enjoyed their retreat on Monday.

Next week, we will have a photographer visiting the school to take photos of our year groups and sports teams. All students are reminded to have their full school uniforms, sports gear and uniforms ready for next Friday.

We hope you all have a lovely weekend. And remember, at Cluny we celebrate the days to come.
