Good News Friday - 08 September 2023
Welcome back to our first edition of Good News Friday for the 2023-2024 school year! We hope you are looking forward to seeing your weekly recap of some of the lovely events that have happened in our school this week. If this is your first Good News Friday, welcome! We hope you enjoy this edition.
Last week, we welcomed new and returning staff and students to Cluny. We hope all are settling into their new timetables and enjoying being back in the Cluny.
To welcome all back to Cluny, fifth and sixth year students were our Cluny fairies in residence dropped welcome back treats to our first and second year students!
Our TY students had a fantastic day out in Carlingford on Tuesday. We had such amazing weather too! Thoroughly enjoyed by all.
A massive thank you to John O'Shea who spoke to our TY students about social entrepreneurship and what we can all do to help those in need around the world. An eye opening and inspirational talk.
TY Culinary Arts class, with some help from the TY Textiles class, enjoyed the fantastic weather this week and picked lots of blackberries which we will use to make Jam in their next class.
Artist Orla Kaminska did a lovely workshop with the second-year art class back in May and they made beautiful ceramic flowers to decorate our new raised beds.
We wish Anna Watson in sixth year a great year as our School Sports Leader for 23/24 sports year. Anna will be vital in the world of sport for all our students.
Well done to all who played their first season's friendly hockey matches against Newpark Comprehensive. Well done to our Seniors, Juniors and Minor hockey team. A special mention to Doireann Dowdall and Emily Woods who stepped in and played for our senior squad. Also, a special mention to Keela Murphy (fifth year), our senior goalkeeper and to Gemma McAteer (second year) who played Goalkeeper for our Junior Squad. Team Cluny - Go Cluny Go!
