The annual musical tradition was initiated by Sr. Maeve Guinan over 20 years ago with the production of ‘My Fair Lady’ . It has continued with Ms White’s encouragement and support, in the belief that it is a crucial event in every Cluny Student’s education. The show is very much a team endeavour, using the talents of all –teachers, parents and students – to achieve an entertaining and artistic production.
We give as many students as possible, of the 90 involved, an opportunity to shine – and there are so many opportunities for those who take on the challenge!! On stage – singing, dancing and acting, of course – but just as importantly, behind the scenes, students work with the Production Team on:
- Art – designing and painting sets and posters
- Costumes and Make-up- organisation of over 200 costumes;
- Social Committee -organising presentations;
- Promotion – advertising and selling tickets;
- Programme – Preparation;
- Stage Management – by 5th years
- Front of House organisation– 5th Years
The benefit of this enterprise for our students is immeasurable, in developing artistic abilities, confidence, friendships, organisational skills and a sense of pride and achievement following the serious work involved and we hope a never to be forgotten experience!
