Silver Gaisce Hike

6th year Cluny students hiked for three days over the Dublin and Wicklow mountains as part of the adventure journey for their Silver Gaisce Hike.
Silver Gaisce Hike

In September 2018 a group of sixth year students hiked over the Dublin and Wicklow mountains. This was part of the Gaisce Adventure Journey, where the students stayed for 2 nights and walked 50KM over the three days. As part of the over night stay students must work together as a team and plan and prepare their meals together. The idea behind this is that students learn to work independently together. The Gaisce hike is also a brilliant way to get them out in the great outdoors. On the first day we hiked from Marley to Knockree. All was going well until the last stretch when some poor students upset a wasps nest and got stung several times. Thankfully that didn't deter them for the next two days which included the Maulin Loop. We were also extremely lucky with weather as the rain stayed away while we walked. All the girls are looking forward to receiving their Gaisce medals on 16th October in the Helix DCU
